The New School Client approached the 160over90 team with an exciting and challenging request this winter. The notoriously progressive University wanted a Spring activation idea that made a big statement and an impact on not only the students but on the people of New York City. Inspired by the current climate of our politics, we sought out a solution that would bring people together and facilitate discussion.
We created the ‘Dismantle a Wall With Words Project’, a part of their ‘Learn Something New Campaign’, a full-block take-over in Willamsburg. The opening night reception unveiled a massive mural that also incorporated projection mapping at night and esteemed faculty Maya Wiley and Alex Aleinikoff would also host a forum encouraging public discourse in order to evoke change.
Being vocal with projection mapping.
Attendees of the opening night reception and discussion were asked “If you could dismantle a ‘wall’ with one word, what would it be?” The 160over90 team with help from our partners at Fusion found a way to incorporate projection mapping to display those words onto the mural in real time.
